At present we are supporting 110 pensioners. We have a waiting list of new recipients and I will be seeing two of them shortly. We have more than two on our lists but we are trying our very hardest to add as few people as we can to the lists.
Our grocery parcel differs in value from month to month – at present there are items which we have been unable to supply as explained before. Suppliers seem to have cooking oil in 2l bottles, but we cannot supply our oldies with such a big bottle. Also dishwasher is obtainable in big bottles and not the normal 400ml bottles that we distribute.
We buy everything locally. We no longer have the option to import our goods duty free as we did previously when we piggybacked on someone else’s import permit.
ALL of our grocery parcels go to individuals. We do not supply food to homes that feed their tenants, and neither do we supply parcels to those living in homes that supply food. We do supply parcels to Coronation Cottages, but each tenant there has their own kitchen and have to be self sufficient to reside there. We also supply a few parcels to Garden Park and Rhodes Jubillee Homes but none of these recipients live in the hostels.
The Zimbabwe Aid Fund contributes 75% of our income and I don’t think that it will come to an end. When I say that if it were not for the Zimbabwe Aid Fund we would have to stop it is not a joke – it is the plain truth.
Thanks for everything – always.
