EFFECTIVE JUNE 2023 THE ZIMBABWE AID FUND WILL NO LONGER BE OPERATING

    By Zimbabwe Aid Fund | Uncategorized | 0 comment | 19 June, 2023 | 0

The Zimbabwe Aid Fund has been raising funds for the pensioners in Zimbabwe for the last 15 years and has raised over A$1.1 million for the pensioners. The Committee has made the decision to step back and hand over the fund raising with effect from the 28th February 2023. The ZAF bank accounts will continue to operate for a further 2 months while the remaining funds are distributed to SOAP Bulawayo and Harare.

The Maleny golf day will continue to operate and raise funds and provide enjoyment for all.

We have held discussions with ZANE (Australia)  and Old Legs Tour ANZAC (Mark Johnson) in regard to the raising and distribution of funds for the benefit of the Pensioners in Zimbabwe. Many of you will have knowledge of both organisations.

ZANE is one of the major international fund raisers for the Pensioners in Zimbabwe. Old Legs Tour Anzac have been involved in raising money by getting sponsorship and donations for cycling expeditions to different locations. The funds they have raised have been distributed by ZANE for the benefit of the pensioners.

ZAF/ZANE/OLT ANZAC have agreed the following:

    • ZAF will no longer be raising funds effective 28thFebruary 2023
    • The current monthly donors to the Zimbabwe Aid Fund will be encouraged to continue their monthly donations via ZANE. They can request their funds continue to be directed to SOAP.
    • ZANE has official Tax status and therefore all donations will be tax deductible.
    • OLT ANZAC will organise fundraising event, the funds from which will be directed to ZANE for the benefit of the pensioners in Zimbabwe
    • The committee members of ZAF will continue to support fund raising efforts in their personal capacities.

The situation in Zimbabwe as regards the pensioners has not changed.  We would encourage you to continue to make your donation via Zane to SOAP. This can be done by directing your monthly donation to the ZANE bank account listed below and emailing Bev Redman, the administrator of ZANE Australia who is in Geelong.
