SOAP Harare supply food parcels to 240 pensioners of which 110  are in homes and 130 in private homes. Each parcel costs around  US$45.

They supply to the following homes:
Masonic Lodge homes, M.O.TH Cottages, Fairways, Westreign, Flame Lily Lodge, Salvation Army Braeside, Muus Lodge Shurugwe, Greenways Chegutu and the Ruwa Trust

They don’t provide food direct to communal kitchens at these Homes. Deleen DeToit and her team co-ordinate the sourcing, packing and delivering of the parcels over a two day period each month. The parcels are delivered by a team of 35 – 40 volunteers.

Each parcel contains:
Fruit & Vegetables including potatoes, onions, cabbage, butternut, carrots, squash, tomatoes, bananas, apples, oranges – each pack weighs approx 6 kg and also includes 1kg chicken pieces, 2.5 doz eggs, Rice, Pasta, Peanut butter, Oats, Milk powder, tinned fruit, baked beans and a tin of tuna or sardines.
